Super E10, a fuel blend containing up to 10% bioethanol, is gaining traction in Germany and Europe as a whole, with its share of the German market having now reached 28%, according to the German Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe) and en2x – the Association of Fuels and Energy.

Supported by attractive pricing, Super E10 has been able to increase its market presence from around 13% in 2017. Since Super E10's introduction in 2011, many newer petrol engines, which can easily tolerate the eco-fuel, have hit the roads.

The potential for filling up with E10 has increased enormously, Christian Kuechen, managing director of en2x said and urged drivers to take advantage of it.

In Germany, the addition of bioethanol to road fuel saves more than three million tonnes of CO2 a year, Kuechen estimates.

Drivers can now fill their cars with Super E10 at petrol stations in 20 countries across Europe, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. Some countries are even phasing out Super E5 and replacing it with Super E10.
