US exports of dried distillers grains (DDGS) to the European Union dropped by 50% in June, decreasing to 54,258 tonnes after reaching a 28-month high in May, according to recent statistics released by the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA).
In May, DDGS exports to the EU surged by 128% to 108,420 tonnes, following a 69% increase in April to 47,541 tonnes.
Total US DDGS exports hit 5.87 million tonnes in the first half of 2024, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period of 2023. Mexico was the country’s largest DDGS market for the sixth month in a row in June.
When it comes to ethanol, June exports to the European Union rose 17% to 16.7 million gallons (63.2 million litres). This followed a 3% increase in the previous month.
There was significant acceleration of exports to the UK in June, up by 144% to 25.8 million tonnes, of which 64% was denatured fuel.
US ethanol exports reached 962.8 million gallons in the first half of 2024, marking a significant 41% rise compared to the same period in the previous year.
