US ethanol exports fell 43% month-on-month in May to 91.9 million gallons (mg) (347.9 million litres) as exports to Brazil shrank 84% to 9.5 mg, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) said earlier this month in an analysis of official data.
With Brazilian and Chinese markets restricted by trade barriers, the US increased exports to other destinations, the trade body said. Canada was the largest export market, with shipments up 15.3% on the month to 31.9 mg. Exports to Peru jumped 145% to a record 12.7 mg, while sales to the Philippines almost doubled to 9.5 mg.
US exports of dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) were little changed in May compared to April, at 994,006. Тhere was a large increase in shipments to Turkey -- up 80% to 148,682 tonnes -- and the country overtook Mexico as the top destination. Exports to Mexico declined 20% to 146,375 tonnes. Other big markets were South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Ireland.
