The US broke again its record for fuel ethanol exports, reaching 112,000 barrels per day (b/d) in 2018, up from a previous record high of 91,000 b/d in 2017, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a new overview.

Brazil was the top market for US ethanol, receiving over 33,000 b/d in 2018. Almost half of that was sold in the first quarter of the year as the price discount associated with US ethanol led to monthly record-high levels of exports in early 2018.

Canada imported almost 23,000 b/d of US ethanol last year, ranking second in terms of volume. The ethanol mandates for gasoline in the different Canadian provinces currently range between 5.0% and 8.5%.

India ranked third, receiving 10,000 b/d of US ethanol in 2018, with South Korea and the Netherlands rounding out the top 5 list.
