Indian ethanol plants builder Praj Industries Ltd (BOM:522205) on Tuesday said it has won a plant expansion project in Argentina.
The company has been selected by Argentinian sugar and ethanol producer Ingenio Tabacal to expand its sugar and ethanol plant in the province of Salta. Ingenio Tabacal, which is owned by Seaboard Corp, picked the Indian company after inviting bids from international providers.
Argentina has an ambitious programme for ethanol blending, with a current mandate of 10%, which is likely to be increased in the near future, Praj noted in its announcement.
The Indian company said that the ethanol plant, which will have a production capacity of 800 cu m per day, will be one of the most efficient in Argentina's sugar producing region. Praj's technology will also help Ingenio Tabacal achieve international standards.
Praj says it has a significant market share in Latin America.
