China New Energy Ltd (LON:CNEL) has won contracts worth about USD 12.5 million (EUR 11.6m) to build an ethanol project in Ghana, the bioenergy technology provider said last week.
The contracts have been awarded by Supercare Group of Ghana and CNBM General Machinery in China. China New Energy will design and supply the ethanol processing equipment and will work with a local engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to install the equipment and commission the facility.
The plant will produce ethanol from cassava, mainly intended for the food industry. It will have a capacity of 45 million litres (12 million gallons) of ethanol per year. The project is expected to begin in May 2017 and to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2018.
