German firm CropEnergies (ETR:CE2) said Wednesday it is restarting ethanol production at its plant in Wilton, England, operated by subsidiary Ensus Ltd.
According to the company’s website, the plant has an annual production capacity of 400,000 sq m for bioethanol and 350,000 tonnes for DDGS. It, however, will operate at reduced capacity for now, supplying ethanol under contracts with customers in the UK, CropEnergies said.
The bioethanol producer called for the “speedy introduction” in the UK of Premium E10, which will contain 10% ethanol, saying this has been overdue for years. CropEnergies also urged the government to clarify as soon as possible what happens with imports and exports to and from the UK after Brexit.
“The future customs regulations are of existential importance for the production site Wilton,” the company said.
Near the end of 2018, CropEnergies lifted its revenue and operating profit forecasts for the fiscal year that ended yesterday, following a rise in ethanol prices in Europe. It now expects revenues of EUR 770 million (USD 876.8m) to EUR 800 million and an operating profit of EUR 65 million - 80 million for the 12 months through February 28, 2019.
