A Jeep Wrangler that has a horsepower of more than 1,000 and runs on the E85 ethanol blend was presented in early November at the SEMA Show, the automotive specialty products trade event,  in Las Vegas.

The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) and Hauk Designs’ Kenny Hauk worked on the project to show how high-performance vehicles can benefit from the use of the high-octane, low-carbon fuel. The Flex Fuel Jeep Wrangler has a 7.0L HEMI engine that got a 10% horsepower boost from using ethanol. This comes in addition to lower emissions and a lower fuel price per gallon.

“At RFA, we want to push the boundaries to show the potential of ethanol as a fuel for a wide variety of vehicles and demographics, especially when special interests tell us it can’t be done,” said RFA Vice President for Industry Relations Robert White.
